What we Believe

Scripture Alone

We believe that the Bible was inspired by God, it is true without error in everything it asserts and that it is the ultimate authority in the Christian life. This means that, at PBC, we preach and explain the Bible in the service every week and we seek to obey everything the Bible says as a church and as individuals.

Faith Alone

We believe that the only way people can be saved is through faith in what Christ has done. Faith is not a contribution to salvation, we can contribute nothing to our salvation, it is the means by which we receive what has been done for us.

Grace Alone

We believe that salvation is a work of God's grace alone. Salvation cannot be earned or deserved through our merit or the good things we do. Salvation is given as a free gift because God is good and merciful.

Christ Alone

We believe that what Christ has done, His life, death and resurrection, is the only reason sinful people can approach God. This means that we we talk about, preach about and sing about what Christ has done each week.

We Believe:

  • The Bible, as it was originally given, is the inspired and infallible word of God, and that it is the supreme authority on all matters of faith and practice.

  • There is one true God, who has eternally existed in three persons, namely, The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.

  • Humans are fallen in nature, rendering all people guilty of transgressing God’s perfect law and are therefore subject to condemnation.

  • Christ Jesus was both fully God and fully man and was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

  • Christ Jesus, after living a perfect and sinless life, died a representative and substitutionary death making propitiation for sin and providing atonement for all His people.

  • Salvation is through faith in Christ Jesus alone.

  • Christ Jesus was raised bodily, ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father making intercession for His people.

  • The regeneration of the Holy Spirit is necessary in the life of an individual to bring them to faith and repentance.

  • The Holy Spirit indwells the believer.

  • Christ Jesus will return in person to judge the living and the dead and will make a new heaven and earth.
